David,
Thanks for mentioning reshoring!
I was one of the business experts in Pres. Obama’s excellent Jan 11, 2011 Insourcing Forum. I emphasized, and the assembled executives supported, the need for companies to more consistently utilize total cost of ownership analysis instead of price variance in making their sourcing decisions
The non-profit Reshoring Initiative, www.reshorenow.org, provides for free a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) software that helps corporations calculate the real offshoring impact on their P&L. Readers can bring back some manufacturing by asking their companies to reevaluate offshoring decisions. Suppliers can use the TCO software to convince their customers to reshore.
You can reach me at harry.moser@reshorenow.org.

What a winner!

Great product idea and execution along with a killer presentation. Seldom do you see a new product idea that makes such good sense and can quickly improve an existing infrastructure. There's a huge market in retrofitting smart controllers on to all those dumb vending machines. New brains for old iron!

Good for VendScreen, good for Portland and good for Mega Tech to play a critical part of this innovative new product.

Hi, Good article to get your potential customers thinking on their test strategies. Perhaps you could have made more sucinct point in calling out that the methodologies need to be investigated in the design phase so that the "Smart Thinking" starts early and can be adapted as a product matures.

Keep the good info coming...

In order for true Vested Outsourcing to really work, a company must treat their partners (employees) with respect and honor. I see all too many companies hiring employees as temp workers and dangling that 'carrot" of one day becoming a "regular" employee if the company sees fit. How can a company find and keep great employees if they treat new hires like this? Simple, they don't. I am glad to see that the owner of a company will not try and go down that road as a small company needs to create a culture of dedicated long term employees that will help that company grow.
